Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Greetings to each one of you on the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence !

Today as we are together to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, I feel as a nation it is important to introspect what we have achieved in the last 75 years and more importantly what more needs to be done to build a nation of our dreams.

It is the collective aspiration of every Indian that our nation once again achieves the coveted title of Vishwa Guru, and spread the light of our knowledge and civilizational ethos across the globe.

Former President Late Shri A. P. J. Abdul Kalam ji had referred the ancient India society as a knowledge society and a leader in many intellectual pursuits. However, he believed that renaissance is imperative for us to become a world leader once again.

This is an opportune moment for the country to embrace modernity and adapt to technological advancements while still being rooted to our culture and traditions.

The 75th anniversary of India’s independence should mark a new beginning of national awakening and invoke the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of people.

Each one of us must realise that Ma Bharti has given us our Identity. It is our foremost duty to protect the unity and integrity of our great nation and respect and preserve its rich cultural heritage.

Our country is known for its strong philosophical foundation and we believe in the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which implies that we consider the entire world as one family.

We are known across the globe to be a perfect example of demonstrating “Unity in Diversity”.

However, I believe that for diversity to become a strength, it is important to respect each other for what they are and utilise the strength of each group/person without any prejudice.

Being the citizens of this great nation of Bapu, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Guru Ravindra Nath Tagore, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmi Bai, Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other eminent personalities who laid down their lives for the nation; it is imperative that we think as One Nation, One People to build a stronger and more resilient India.

Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav is not for any one religion, caste, or state, but for the entire country, and reminds us to get freedom from the evil clutches of casteism, religionism, regionalism or any other form of discrimination that divides us.

It also reminds us to propagate the spirit, essence and concept of -

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

It is interesting to note that most of us today have not witnessed the struggle for Independence neither were we a part of that movement. As a result, we can only imagine the sacrifice and courage of the freedom fighters who ousted British rulers, to free the nation. A fitting tribute to these martyrs of our motherland would be to contribute meaningfully towards building a society that our ancestors had dreamt of.

This year, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence Day, our Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has given a clarion call to all citizens to hoist the ‘TIRANGA’ in their homes to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

To fly the national flag is a sign of pride and patriotism. It a positive affirmation of loyalty and commitment. I urge all my fellow Indians to abide by the Flag Code of India 2022 and sign this pledge -

Remember, the Indian National Flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. It is the symbol of our national pride and there is universal affection and respect for, and loyalty to, the National Flag.

Our National Flag is the symbol of integrity, indomitable courage and respect for India in the world.

Jai Hind !

A very well-crafted and articulated representation of emotions, thoughts, ideas, and facts. This could easily be a nutshell but précised description of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav"
